Problem solved by chucking “Studio Manager” out the window.LOL Wow! as far as I’m concerned, the Yamaha “Studio Manager” doesn’t work at all with Windows 7 or even in XP compatibility mode. I mirrored them in Studio Manager and still no go. Thus I know my midi connections are perfect. I downloaded the program “Motif Rack ES Total Librarian” and it worked perfectly! No problems at all. How are people getting these Motifator products on their Motif ES Rack?

Like I mentioned above, when I switch to do an OS upgrade everything works great! It’s just that Studio Manager seems to fail big time. Now I know what it means because some gentleman has been explaining this on almost all the posts I have read on Motifator, but none of that info works. In fact I am getting this specific error: “Bulk Data Timeout Error”. In fact, I successfully did an OS 1.03 upgrade without any problems using my setup so I know the connections are sound with the Motif. The Motif ES is configured for Ports 1 and USB accordingly.
I am using a “short” USB cable which is better than long I know. Note I don’t have any USB port crowding on the computer, in fact the Yamaha is the only device.
I need some success stories, otherwise in my book this simply doesn’t work. Regarding the Managers that Motifator sells, there’s no way of knowing whether they would work on Windows 7 either. I understand my problem could be isolated to Windows 7, but I also know that I can’t be the only running Windows 7 at this point.Īlso, are there other alternatives to getting voices in and out of the Motif Rack ES without the Studio Manager software? I can’t even begin to think about purchasing anything on this site until I can get a connection. Thus, I’d like to know if anyone has had success and whether you had to configure Windows 7 or anything in a unique fashion to get it to work. My Roland, Korg, and older Yamaha gear have no problems at all, only the Motif ES Rack. I am experienced with midi and of all my gear ( I have a lot ), the Yamaha Motif-ES Rack by far is the most difficult to connect to a computer for me. I have searched and read all kinds of info on this site to no avail.

I am running the latest Yamaha midi driver with the latest software installations. I am curious if anyone has successfully connected their Motif-Rack ES via USB to a computer running Windows 32bit OS and Studio Manager.
